NurseLingo Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
The short version
NurseLingo does not collect your study data. Your progress stays on your device. No account, no ads, no tracking. Professor Lingo answers on our server without keeping anything, and AI explanations only turn on if you allow them.
Your study data stays on your device
- Your progress, the topics you have mastered, your Professor Lingo conversations, your custom cards and decks, and your settings are stored only on your device.
- Deleting the app deletes them. We never have a copy.
How Professor Lingo works
- When you ask Professor Lingo something, the app sends your message together with the study progress saved on your device to our server. The server works out the answer, sends it back with your updated progress, and keeps nothing. No name, email, account or device ID is sent.
- Most answers come from NurseLingo's own mind maps, cheat sheets, podcasts and practice questions, with no AI involved.
AI explanations (optional)
- AI explanations are off until you allow them, either in the chat or in Settings, Professor Lingo, AI explanations. You can turn them off the same way, or by telling Professor Lingo "turn off AI explanations".
- When they are on and you ask for a tailored or simpler explanation (or a message is unclear), your question, your last few messages in that chat, and a short summary of your study progress are sent to Google Gemini to write the reply. Your name and email are never sent.
- Google does not use this to train its models. Google keeps it for up to 55 days only to detect misuse of its service, then deletes it.
- Please leave patient names and other personal details out of anything you type. AI explanations are for studying, can be wrong, and are not medical advice.
Custom podcast episodes (optional)
- If you create your own episode, you enter an email address so we can keep your episodes and episode credits. We do not send marketing email.
- The topic or notes you provide are used to write the episode with Anthropic Claude and voice it with ElevenLabs or Google text-to-speech. The finished episodes are stored so you can play them again.
- Episode credit purchases are processed by Apple. We receive the App Store's signed purchase record, never your name or payment details.
Downloads
The app downloads podcast audio, mind maps, cheat sheets and content updates from our server. These downloads carry no personal information.
Daily 5 and the Nursing Arcade (free games on our website)
Daily 5 (nurselingo.app/daily) and the Nursing Arcade games (nurselingo.app/arcade) need no account. Your answers, scores and streaks are stored only in your browser. Our server counts anonymous totals: for Daily 5, how many people started and finished each day's puzzle, how many got each question right, and how many tapped Share or the App Store link; for the arcade, how many games were started, finished and shared each day. There are no identifiers and nothing that links a total to you.
Email list (optional, on our website)
- If you sign up on nurselingo.app for the free NCLEX study plan, we store your email address, the page you signed up on, the signup date and which of our emails we have sent you.
- We use it only to send the study plan, a short series of practice-question emails and NurseLingo Weekly, our weekly newsletter about NCLEX and nursing school study. We never sell it or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- Emails are delivered by Resend, our email provider, and the list is stored in our database (Upstash).
- Every email has an unsubscribe link; one tap stops all of them. To delete your address completely, email us from that address.
- This is separate from the app: signing up does not link your email to anything in NurseLingo.
Our website
- nurselingo.app uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and button taps. It sets no cookies and does not identify you.
- App Store and Google Play links on the site carry a campaign label (for example "web-sheet") so Apple and Google can show us, in aggregate, which pages lead to downloads. No personal information is attached.
What we never do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking across apps or websites, and no data brokers. We do not sell your data.
- No analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs in the app. Our server counts how often features are used, with no link to who used them.
Every SDK in the app
This is the complete list of code in NurseLingo that we did not write:
- Apple frameworks (iOS): SwiftUI, Combine, WidgetKit, UserNotifications, StoreKit, AVFoundation, PDFKit, Security (for the keychain).
- AndroidX / Jetpack (Android): Compose, Glance, DataStore, WorkManager. Google's own UI and storage libraries. None of them collect data.
- Google Play Billing (Android) and StoreKit (iOS): used to sell and restore Premium and episode credits. The purchase is processed by Google or Apple.
The AI services above are called by our server, not by code inside the app.
Android
The Android app works fully offline. It makes no network requests except the store's own billing check, and everything stays on your device.
Deleting your data
Your study data lives only on your device, so deleting the app removes it. To delete podcast episodes saved under your email, email us from that address.
Children's privacy
NurseLingo is made for nursing students and is rated 13+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
