NCLEX › Choosing an NCLEX app

Best NCLEX apps in 2026: how to choose (with real prices)

Short answer: pick the resource that gives you the most NCLEX-style practice with clear rationales across all eight test plan categories, including Next Generation item types, at a price and format you will actually use every day. NCSBN does not endorse any prep product.

What to compare

  1. Question volume and rationales. Practice testing is one of the most effective study methods; rationales are where you learn.
  2. Next Generation item types. Case studies, bowtie, matrix and SATA with partial credit are on every exam.
  3. Coverage of the test plan. All eight client-needs categories, weighted like the real exam.
  4. Format. Phone app, web, video lectures, or a mix. Choose what you will use daily.
  5. Price and access length. Compare the cost for the weeks you actually need.
